With a background in retail banking, Irwin spent several years in the consumer retail environment before joining Realstar in 1993. A member of the board of directors of the Hotel Association of Canada, Irwin was elected to the position of Chairman in 2006. He has participated in a number of hospitality panels as a recognized industry expert.

Irwin oversees the development of the Realstar Hospitality Canadian portfolio of franchise brands and has been a major contributor to its remarkable 20-year record of growth.
